Released September 26, 2026
Finlynq v3.5.0 unifies the two recurring-tracking surfaces. Subscriptions and Recurring Payments were two separate pages, tables and APIs that cross-linked to each other; they are now one page with a type filter, one merged database table, and conversions that no longer lose your cadence.
Finlynq is an open-source (AGPL v3) personal finance app with a first-party Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, so you can track your money in the app and analyze it from Claude, Cursor, Windsurf, or any MCP-compatible assistant.
One tracking page
- Recurring Payments now shows everything recurring in one list: subscriptions, manually-tracked payments, and series auto-detected from your transaction history. A filter switches between All, Subscriptions, and Recurring Payments.
- Everything the Subscriptions page did lives on: status badges, pause/resume/cancel, cancel reminders, start dates, auto-detect, and monthly/annual subscription cost totals.
- /subscriptions redirects to /recurring-payments, so old bookmarks and links keep working.
No-loss conversion
- Turning a recurring payment into a subscription (or back) is now a single in-place change — the row keeps its history and id. Previously the row was deleted and recreated in another table, and an every-two-weeks payment silently became "monthly".
- Biweekly cadence is now supported for both types; the legacy "annual" spelling normalizes to "yearly".
Under the hood
- One database table: subscriptions moved into recurring_payments as type='subscription' rows, with planned-payment history (confirmations, skips, reschedules) remapped to the merged rows.
- Backups and imports keep working: new exports carry both types in one section, and older backups with a separate subscriptions section restore as subscription rows.
- Plain recurring payments now appear in more places they belong: account/category delete blockers, the active-currency scan, exports, and the encryption sweep.
AI assistants (MCP)
- manage_subscriptions and manage_recurring_payments keep their contracts but now operate on the merged table; move_to_recurring / move_to_subscription are in-place conversions that preserve the cadence.
